Poland School Stabbing: Nine Injured as 19-Year-Old Student Is Arrested

At least nine people have been injured after a 19 year old student allegedly attacked pupils and a teacher with a knife at a school in Ostro??ka, Poland.

The attack reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning at the Vocational School Complex in the city, triggering a major emergency response involving police, paramedics and an air ambulance.

Two Victims Reportedly in Serious Condition

Local reports said at least nine people sustained injuries during the incident, with two reportedly in serious condition.

Four of the victims were taken to hospital for medical treatment, while emergency teams, including an air ambulance and helicopter, were deployed to the scene.

The full extent of the victims' injuries had not been publicly established as authorities continued their investigation.

Suspect Fled School After Attack

Police said the suspect fled the school on foot following the alleged attack.

Officers later located and arrested the 19 year old near the city beach on the Narew River.

The suspect is reportedly a student at the school and was detained on suspicion of attacking people with a sharp object on and near the school premises.

Police said officers at the scene were continuing to establish exactly what happened and reconstruct the sequence of events.

“Officers at the scene are carrying out procedures and determining the course of events,” police said.

The suspect's alleged motive has not been established.

Mayor Says Situation Is Under Control

Ostro??ka Mayor Pawel Niewiadomski confirmed that an attack had taken place and said authorities had brought the situation under control.

“The most important information is that the situation has been brought under control,” Niewiadomski said.

Police and emergency medical personnel remained at the school as authorities secured the area and continued gathering information about the incident.

Security Measures Extended to Other Schools

Following the attack, the mayor ordered additional measures to prevent unauthorised individuals from entering other schools operated by the city.

Niewiadomski also urged students, parents and school staff to remain calm and comply with instructions from school authorities and emergency responders.

The heightened security measures reflect concerns about possible risks to other educational facilities while investigators work to establish whether the incident was isolated.

Motive Remains Unknown

Despite the arrest, several key questions remain unanswered.

Authorities have yet to establish what prompted the alleged attack, whether the suspect acted alone, how the weapon was obtained or whether there were any warning signs before the incident.

Investigators will also need to determine the exact sequence of events inside and around the school and establish the circumstances that led to the injuries.

For now, the 19 year old remains a suspect, and the allegations against him have yet to be tested through the legal process.

The immediate priority for authorities remains the treatment of the injured, securing the affected school and determining what led to the violent incident.
